Plenty of providers advertise a cheap 1U. The number only means something once you know what’s inside it.

The building behind it is our 17,000 sq. ft. Chicago facility. It’s SOC 2 Type II certified, engineers are on site 24/7/365, and the network runs on a 99.5% uptime SLA that’s in writing.
The line to check before you ship a server
Power. We sell colocation power per package, as amps and receptacles, not as a per-kW rate. That’s simpler to budget, because the bill doesn’t move with your draw, but it means you should know what your server actually pulls under load before you pick a package.
For a small web or DNS box that’s a quick conversation. A dense machine stuffed with drives or a big CPU is where you ask first, because the answer decides whether 1U is still the right package or whether you should be looking at 2U or a partial rack.
My advice: measure the draw at the plug with the server busy, then tell us the number.
What it costs to grow
You don’t have to move to grow. Going from 1U to a half or full rack keeps you in the same facility with the same IP ranges and network setup, and here’s what the next steps cost today:
- 2U: $199 a month, $200 setup, same inclusions as 1U.
- Half rack (20U): $799 a month, $1,000 setup, 10G uplink available.
- Full rack (40U): $1,400 a month, $1,500 setup, dual 20A 120V circuits and 2 hours of free remote hands.
Two more things are available but not on the price list. Private networking between colocation packages is offered if you run more than one. Remote hands beyond the free hour are quoted on request.
