What one server gets you
Here’s what the 1U package on our Chicago colocation page includes:
- 1U of rack space in a locking cabinet
- A 1Gb/s uplink
- A /29, which is 8 IP addresses
- Redundant dual-circuit power
- 1 hour of free remote hands
- A $100 setup fee, charged once
The server sits in a SOC 2 Type II facility with engineers on site 24/7/365, UPS and generator power behind it, and a 99.5% network uptime SLA in writing. For a single box that used to live in an office closet, that’s a big step up.
Two things to check first
Size comes first. A 1U slot is 1.75 inches of cabinet height. If your server is 2U, you need the 2U package, which is $199 a month plus $200 setup.
Then power. We sell colocation power per package as amps and receptacles, not per kW, and the 1U’s allowance is set on your quote. Measure what the server pulls at the plug under real load, then send us that number. A big dual-CPU box stuffed with drives is exactly the kind of machine that surprises people.
When one server isn’t the right call
