Proxmox dedicated servers and clusters

Order a Proxmox dedicated server and Proxmox VE is installed before we hand it over, at no extra charge. We've run our own cloud platform on Proxmox for over 15 years, so this isn't a checkbox we added last quarter. Start with one host or a three-node Ceph cluster, and we'll help you move your VMs off VMware.

What you get with a Proxmox server here

The hypervisor is free. What costs you is the hardware under it, the network between nodes and someone who'll replace a node's dead disk or power supply at 2 a.m. That's the part we sell.

Installed before handoff

Choose "Proxmox (Latest Version)" in the operating system step. You get root, the web UI and IPMI access. In-stock builds are online the same day or the next; custom builds take a week or less.

A real cluster network

A 1 Gbps private network is included, and 10 Gbps is $20 a month per server on the order form. Proxmox's cluster stack wants low, steady latency between nodes, and a private network keeps Ceph and migration traffic off your public port.

Ceph storage nodes

Ceph needs at least three nodes. Our storage servers take 14 TB enterprise drives at $79 a month each, and replication runs over the private network.

Help moving off VMware

We help with the move. On larger deployments it's often included; smaller jobs are quoted up front. Our migration guide shows exactly what's involved.

Managed, if you want it

Enterprise Server Management is $99 a month ($79 with cPanel) and moves you to our managed SLA: 99.95% network uptime, a 15-minute response and 1-hour hardware replacement. See managed servers.

Three US regions

Run the cluster in Chicago and keep a second host or a backup server in Ashburn or Los Angeles, far enough away that one storm or fiber cut doesn't take out both.

Pick a setup

Three ways to run Proxmox with us

Most people land in one of these. If you’re not sure, send us your VM count and total RAM and we’ll tell you which one fits.

SetupGood forStorageNetworkPrice
One hostA lab, a handful of VMs, a small private cloud where a few minutes of downtime for a reboot is fineLocal disks with ZFSPublic port plus IPMIFrom $126/mo; $248/mo for a Xeon D-1541 with 64 GB
Three-node HA clusterProduction VMs that should restart on another node when hardware failsCeph across the three nodes10 Gbps private network between nodesQuoted per build
Compute plus storage nodesBigger estates, or anyone moving a VMware cluster with a lot of dataDedicated storage servers running Ceph, plus a backup target10 Gbps private networkQuoted per build

Why three nodes? Proxmox needs a majority of nodes online to keep the cluster quorate, and with two you lose that the moment one goes down. Two nodes can work with an external QDevice vote, but three is the setup we’d run ourselves. The Proxmox cluster documentation covers the details.

Proxmox-ready servers, month to month

These are default builds on our order forms with Proxmox VE selected as the operating system at $0. Setup is $0 and the term is month to month. Change RAM, drives and bandwidth on the form before checkout.

Leaving VMware

Moving from VMware?

Since Broadcom bought VMware, perpetual licenses are gone, subscriptions are sold per core with a 16-core minimum per CPU, and a lot of small hosting partners were cut from the program. For a three-host cluster that can mean tens of thousands of dollars a year. We put the numbers side by side in Proxmox vs VMware in 2026.

The move itself is mostly a driver and network job. Proxmox VE has an ESXi import wizard that pulls VMs straight off an ESXi host, and the parts that trip people up are Windows VirtIO drivers, VLAN mapping and boot mode. Our VMware to Proxmox migration guide walks through all of it.

We help with the move. On larger deployments it’s often included; smaller jobs are quoted up front. Tell us how many VMs you have, how much storage they use and when your VMware renewal is due.

Not ready to leave VMware yet? We’ll install ESXi on your server if you ask, either the free edition or with licenses you buy yourself. We don’t sell VMware licenses and we don’t have a licensing agreement with Broadcom, so the license, and whether its terms cover a rented server, stays between you and Broadcom.

Our own platform

We run it ourselves

Our own cloud servers run on Proxmox, behind a customer portal we built in-house, and they have for over 15 years. That’s a lot of kernel updates, node replacements and storage rebuilds done on production hardware with customers on it.

On your servers, you own the cluster and its configuration. We look after the hardware and the network. A management plan can take on more; ask us what it covers on a Proxmox host before you order.

Tell us what you're running

Send your VM count, total RAM and storage, and whether you need high availability. We'll size a Proxmox host or cluster and send a quote within one business day.

Is Proxmox free on your servers?

Yes. Proxmox VE is open source and it’s a $0 option on our order forms. A Proxmox subscription is optional; it buys access to the enterprise package repository and, on the higher tiers, support tickets from Proxmox. Prices start at €120 per CPU socket per year, and you buy it from Proxmox directly (see their pricing page).

Do I need a Proxmox subscription for production?

No. Every feature is in the free version. Without a subscription you’re on the no-subscription repository, which Proxmox recommends for testing and non-production use. Plenty of production clusters run on it anyway, but if you want the more conservative update stream or vendor support, buy one.

How many servers do I need for high availability?

Three. Proxmox keeps the cluster running only while a majority of nodes are online, so three nodes survive one failure. Two nodes can work with an external QDevice acting as the tie-breaker, but three is simpler and it’s what Ceph needs anyway.

Can you supply the hardware for a Ceph cluster?

Yes. We quote the nodes, drives and 10 Gbps private network as one build, and our storage servers page has the drive prices. If you’d rather not run storage yourself, our managed Ceph, NFS and iSCSI storage is the other route.

Will you help us migrate from VMware?

Yes. We help with the move. On larger deployments it’s often included; smaller jobs are quoted up front. Start with our migration guide to see what’s involved, then send us your VM list.

Can I run VMware ESXi instead?

Yes, we’ll install it for you: the free edition, or ESXi with licenses you buy from Broadcom yourself. We don’t sell VMware licenses or have an agreement with Broadcom, so licensing and VMware support are between you and them. Check that your license terms allow a rented server before you order.

Where are the servers, and what SLA do I get?

Chicago, Ashburn and Los Angeles, all SOC 2 Type II. Every server gets 99.5% network uptime in writing, a 30-minute ticket response and 2-hour hardware replacement. With a management plan that becomes 99.95%, 15 minutes and 1 hour.
