Founded in 1997 as a small web hosting venture in Chicago, GigeNET has grown into one of the most experienced independent hosting providers in the US — with three SOC 2-certified data centers, enterprise-grade dedicated servers, cloud hosting, colocation, and the ProxyShield® DDoS mitigation system that we pioneered before most providers knew what a volumetric attack looked like.
We're not a reseller. We're not backed by a venture round looking for an exit. We own our infrastructure, staff our facilities, and answer the phone ourselves — and many of the clients who trusted us in year one are still with us today.
Our history
1997
Ameen Pishdadi started GlobalWebHost — one of the first hosting companies with an online management portal for clients.
2000
Now "Ecomdevel LLC," a partnership with Derek Raines added colocation due to high market demand. The company continued to profit and grow.
2004
DDoS Protection ProxyShield™ launched. "High risk servers" branded as GigeServers continued expansion.
2006
Rebranded as GigeNET, the company consolidated to its Arlington Heights headquarters — where it remains today.
2008
Bill Smith joined to expand market reach. GigeNET adopted Internap's Flow Control Platform for low-latency networking.
2010
GigeNET's Cloud Server product launched to the global market.
2011
Los Angeles data center opened — expanding reach to the West Coast and Asia.
2013
Introduced dedicated servers with Automated DDoS Protection and Monitoring. Named fastest cloud among competitors.
2014
Major cloud infrastructure enhancements announced. ADVA FSP 3000 deployed for bandwidth growth.
2014
Ashburn, VA data center opened — establishing presence in Data Center Alley with low-latency connectivity to European markets.

One of the original founders of GigeNET, Ameen has guided the company for more than 25 years — from pioneering DDoS protection technology to navigating data center expansions across three US markets. The company he started in 1997 is still independently owned and operated today.

A Computer Engineering graduate of the University of Michigan, Jenn gained formative experience in Silicon Valley through the late-90s and 2000s tech cycles — from early-stage startups to established tech companies.
