OVHcloud and GigeNET both sell bare metal servers in the US at similar entry prices. OVHcloud’s Advance-1 starts at $98 a month, and ours starts at $126. The differences that matter show up after you order: what support looks like, what the SLA pays, whether you pay a setup fee, and where in the country your server can sit.
Everything about OVHcloud below comes from its US website, checked on October 13, 2026. We’re GigeNET, a US dedicated server host since 1998, so weigh our side with that in mind. Every claim about us links to a page you can read yourself.

Where your server sits
OVHcloud’s US bare metal runs in Vint Hill, Virginia and Hillsboro, Oregon. That covers the coasts. Ours runs in Ashburn, Chicago and Los Angeles, which adds the middle of the country.
Chicago matters if your users are spread across the US or in Canada. In our RIPE Atlas tests, users reached our Chicago site in about 14 ms from Toronto, 19 ms from New York and 24 ms from Dallas, and about 48 ms from Los Angeles. Our latency page has measured numbers from 29 cities to all three of our sites.
What you pay on day one
OVHcloud’s Advance-1 Gen 2 is $98 a month with a $98 installation fee, and its bare metal page says setup fees go away “with a commitment.” Ours have $0 setup and no contract at any size. Our dedicated servers start at $126 a month, and the $159 Xeon D-1541 special comes with 64 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD and a 1 Gbps unmetered port in Ashburn, Chicago or Los Angeles.
Need more bandwidth than one gigabit? Our 10 Gbps unmetered servers start at $499 a month in Chicago.
Support you can call
OVHcloud says its bare metal servers come with technical support by chat and email, and its support page gives a first-response goal for urgent incidents of “within 15 minutes or up to 3 hours” depending on the support level you subscribe to.
We answer the phone. Tickets and calls are handled by people 24/7, and our SLA guarantees a response to a written ticket within 30 minutes on every server, or 15 minutes on a managed one, with credits if we’re late. That’s included, not a support tier you add on.
What the SLA pays
A headline percentage only matters if there’s a remedy behind it. Our SLA page publishes three credit schedules:
- Network: under 99.5% availability in a month earns a credit that steps up to 100% of the fee below 85%. Managed servers are credited from below 99.95%.
- Support: credits if a ticket response is late.
- Hardware: a failed component is replaced within 2 hours, or 1 hour on a managed plan, with its own credits.
Every dedicated server also includes 4 Gbps of DDoS protection, with 6, 8 and 10 Gbps tiers on the order form, and new orders include R1Soft backups with 1 TB of space.
Managed if you want it
If you’d rather not run the OS yourself, Enterprise Server Management covers OS patching, 24/7 monitoring and troubleshooting for $99 a month per server, or $79 on a server with a cPanel license. It also moves the server onto our faster SLA tier.
Moving to GigeNET
- In-stock servers go online the same day or the next day. Custom builds take a week or less.
- If you’re on cPanel, we migrate cPanel accounts from your old host for free.
- There’s no setup fee and no contract, so a trial costs one month.
- Run both servers side by side, then move DNS once the new box has carried real traffic.
So which one?
If you want a phone number that answers, written remedies on every server and a site in the middle of the country, that’s what we built. Tell us what you’re running and we’ll quote a server sized to it, or compare our US regions.
