A WordPress Dedicated Server for Sites That Outgrew Shared Hosting

Your WordPress sites, alone on Intel Xeon hardware in Chicago, Ashburn or Los Angeles. No neighbors eating your CPU, no inode caps, no more resource-limit emails at 2 a.m. Entry builds start at $126/mo in Chicago and Los Angeles, with $0 setup and no contract, and every server ships with 4 Gbps DDoS protection and 1 TB of R1Soft backups. Add Enterprise Server Management and our US-based engineers run the server and OS around the clock, while you or your developer run WordPress itself.

What a dedicated server changes for WordPress

Shared hosting and most VPS plans give WordPress a slice of a machine and a set of limits you can't see. A dedicated server gives it the whole machine. Here's what that buys you in practice.

Every core and every gigabyte is yours

PHP workers, MySQL and your object cache split one Intel Xeon server between them and nobody else. A traffic spike on someone else's site can't slow yours down, because there is no someone else.

Your stack, your rules

Root access on a self-managed server means you pick the PHP version, the web server, the cache layer and the cron schedule. Run WP-CLI, Composer and Git exactly the way your developer wants them.

Three US regions

Put the server where your readers are: Ashburn for the East Coast, Chicago for the middle of the country, Los Angeles for the West. Same pricing in every region for the Xeon D-1541 Special.

Managed at the server and OS level

Enterprise Server Management is $99/mo, or $79/mo on a server with a cPanel license. Our engineers handle the operating system, patching and advanced monitoring. WordPress core, plugins and themes stay with you or your developer.

cPanel/WHM for many sites

Agencies hosting client sites can add cPanel Premier Metal at $49.50/mo for 100 accounts and $0.35 per extra account. Moving from another cPanel host? That migration is free.

Protected and backed up by default

4 Gbps of DDoS protection is included on every dedicated server, with 6, 8 and 10 Gbps tiers at $155, $330 and $525 a month. R1Soft automated backups with 1 TB of space are on every order at $0.

Who this is for

Who should move WordPress to a dedicated server

Not every WordPress site needs its own hardware. These do.

  • Content sites with real traffic. Publishers, communities and membership sites where a chunk of visitors are logged in, which means the page cache can’t save you and every request hits PHP and MySQL.
  • Agencies with a portfolio. Twenty or fifty client sites on one server with cPanel accounts, one bill, one place to patch. See cPanel dedicated servers for the panel options.
  • Multisite networks. WordPress multisite shares one database and one codebase across every site in the network, so one slow site drags the rest. Dedicated CPU and RAM remove the ceiling.
  • Stores. Cart, checkout and the My Account pages bypass the cache on purpose. If you sell on WooCommerce, read the WooCommerce hosting on a dedicated server page, which covers the store-specific parts.
  • Anyone getting resource-limit notices. CPU throttling, entry-process caps and 503s during a campaign are your host telling you the plan is too small.

So a managed WordPress dedicated server with cPanel, backups and DDoS protection comes to $126 for the server, $49.50 for cPanel and $79 for management. Compare that against a managed WordPress plan that bills by monthly visits and throttles you past the tier. Need more cores, NVMe, or a specific RAM size? Ask for a quote and we’ll spec it. Full stock is on the dedicated servers page.

Managed or self-managed

Who does what on a managed WordPress dedicated server

Hosts use the word managed loosely. We’d rather you know exactly where the line is before you buy.

That split suits agencies and in-house developers who want control of the WordPress layer and want someone else to own the box. If you’d rather hand off the whole thing, including the application, tell us in the quote form and we’ll say honestly whether we can do it and what it costs. The management plan also tightens the SLA: network credits start at 99.95% instead of 99.5%, hardware replacement credits after 1 hour instead of 2, and support response credits after 15 minutes instead of 30. Details on the managed servers page.

WordPress dedicated server FAQ

Other options: WooCommerce dedicated server · Managed servers · cPanel dedicated servers · VPS

Do I need a dedicated server for WordPress, or is a VPS enough?

A VPS is enough when your traffic is steady, mostly anonymous and well cached. Move to a dedicated server when a meaningful share of requests are uncached (logged-in users, carts, search, membership content), when you host many sites on one box, or when you’ve been throttled or hit entry-process limits. We go through the trade-offs in our WordPress VPS vs dedicated server article.

Do you install or manage WordPress itself?

No. Enterprise Server Management covers the hardware, the operating system, patching and monitoring. WordPress core, plugins, themes and caching plugins are yours or your developer’s. If you need help beyond the server, ask in the quote form and we’ll tell you whether we can take it on and quote it.

How many WordPress sites can I host on one dedicated server?

As many as the hardware will carry. Agencies typically run dozens of client sites as separate cPanel accounts (Premier Metal covers 100 accounts for $49.50/mo). Multisite networks run as a single WordPress install. Tell us the site count and typical traffic and we’ll size the CPU, RAM and disk.

How quickly can I get a server?

In-stock builds are delivered the same or next day. Custom builds take a week or less. There’s no setup fee and billing is month to month.

What does the SLA actually cover?

Network uptime credits apply below 99.5% without a management plan and below 99.95% with one. Hardware replacement credits kick in after 2 hours (1 hour on managed servers). Support response credits apply after 30 minutes (15 on managed). The full terms are on our SLA page.

Can you migrate my WordPress sites?

If you’re coming from another cPanel host, the cPanel-to-cPanel migration is free. For sites on non-cPanel hosts, or for a move where you want our engineers hands-on, tell us what’s involved and we’ll quote it.
