Managed colocation: your servers, our engineers

Colocation gives your servers space, power and a network uplink. Managed colocation adds people who look after them. Our engineers can take over the operating system on hardware you own, or do one-time jobs like rebuilds and migrations. We quote it per server and per job, because no two fleets are the same.

What we can take on

Pick what you want us to own. Everything here is on request and quoted before we start.

Operating system care

We manage the OS layer on servers you own: updates and security patches on a schedule we agree with you.

Troubleshooting

When a service stops or a box misbehaves, our engineers log in and work the problem with you.

Rebuilds

OS reinstalls and rebuilds when a server needs a clean start, done by people who know the hardware is in front of them.

Migrations

Moving workloads from an old server to a new one, or moving your servers from an office or another provider into our racks.

Remote hands

Reboots, drive swaps and cable reseats. Every colocation package includes free remote hands time: 1 hour, or 2 hours on a full rack.

Racking and move-in

Ship your servers to us or drive them in, and we rack them. On larger deployments help with the move is often included; smaller jobs are quoted up front.

If your hardware is old enough that you’re pricing replacements, compare a managed dedicated server before you buy new servers to colocate. We own and replace the hardware, and Enterprise Server Management covers the OS. Our 36-month cost breakdown shows where owning starts to win.

How it works

How we quote managed colocation

  1. Tell us about the servers. Model, operating system, what runs on them and what they draw under load.
  2. Tell us what you want us to own. Ongoing OS care, troubleshooting, one-time rebuilds or a migration, or a mix.
  3. We agree the scope and the price. You get a quote per server or per job before any work starts, alongside the colocation package for your space and power.
  4. We do the work. The hardware stays yours, and so does your access to it.

Chicago is our main colocation site, with published packages. Ashburn and Los Angeles are quoted per deployment. Unsure which you need? Read managed hosting vs colocation.

What is managed colocation?

Colocation where the provider also looks after your servers. You own the hardware and rent the space, power and uplink; our engineers manage the operating system or do one-time work like rebuilds and migrations.

Is managed colocation a fixed plan?

No. We manage the OS layer on customer-owned servers on request, and quote it case by case per server or per job, because fleets differ so much. You see the price before we start.

What's the difference between remote hands and managed colocation?

Remote hands is physical work: reboots, drive swaps, cable reseats. Every package includes free time, 1 hour or 2 on a full rack. Managed colocation is work on the operating system and software side, quoted separately.

Can you move my servers into your data center?

Yes. Ship them to us or drive them in, and we rack them. On larger deployments help with the move is often included; smaller jobs are quoted up front.

Where do you offer managed colocation?

Chicago is our main site, with published colocation packages from $99 a month for 1U. Ashburn and Los Angeles are quoted per deployment.

Should I colocate or rent a managed server?

If you already own good hardware, colocation usually costs less over a few years. If you’d be buying new servers to colocate, a managed dedicated server is often cheaper at first, because we own and replace the hardware.

Send the server list and the work you want us to own. We'll quote the colocation package and the management together.
