What is Veeam Cloud Connect — and why use it with GigeNET?

Veeam Backup & Replication is the enterprise standard for protecting VMware and Hyper-V virtualized environments — with support for full backups, incrementals, and block-level replication with deduplication and compression.

Veeam Cloud Connect extends this to offsite cloud storage: instead of backing up to a local NAS or tape system, your Veeam jobs replicate directly into GigeNET’s data centers over an encrypted SSL connection — with no additional infrastructure required on your end. GigeNET acts as your Veeam Service Provider, managing the cloud repository so you only interact with your Veeam console.

Running bare-metal dedicated servers or physical machines without a hypervisor layer? Veeam Agent extends Cloud Connect protection to Windows and Linux physical and virtual environments — without requiring VMware or Hyper-V. Choose between volume-based backups (full disk image, ideal for disaster recovery) or file-based backups (granular file and folder selection, ideal for application data). Both replicate to the same GigeNET cloud repository, managed from the same Veeam console.

Restore at any level — file, volume, or full machine

Veeam supports granular file recovery, volume-level restores, and full bare-metal recovery for complete disaster scenarios. For hypervisor environments, VMs can be restored at the hypervisor layer — independent of the OS. For agent-based backups, mount the backup directly and browse files as if they were local.

Encrypted end-to-end

All data in transit between your environment and GigeNET's cloud repository is encrypted via SSL. Veeam's WAN accelerators compress and encrypt data simultaneously — so backup jobs are both faster and fully protected, with no trade-off between performance and security.

Offsite, out of reach — from ransomware too

Backups stored in GigeNET's SOC 2-certified data centers are physically and logically separated from your production environment. If ransomware encrypts your local storage — including local backup volumes — your offsite Veeam repository remains intact and recoverable. GigeNET engineers monitor storage platforms 24/7.
